There is lots of buzz about Facebook Ads.
Everyone keeps saying you HAVE to be using them, but…
Obviously, I love Facebook ads since I teach it and myself and my team offer the services.
However, I disagree.
4 reasons why you shouldn’t use Facebook Ads:
You don’t have anything to sell
This one may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s worth reiterating. It’s not wise to run Facebook ads when you have no product or service defined. You shouldn’t sell before you create.
You may have a website, a Facebook page, and some brief content to introduce your up and coming business…
But if you aren’t ready to sell, DON’T RUN ADS!
Just wait until you’re at least close to being able to sell something. I want you to use your money appropriately. There are a lot of different ways you’ll feel you need to spend your money when you are working on building your biz. Hold off until your product or service is ready to be sold and turn those leads into paying clients.
You haven’t tested your product
You’ve got a great idea. You formulated a plan, developed a product or service, and now you are ready to fire up your Facebook Ads. Let the magic begin!
If you haven’t tested your product or tested the need for it in your market, Facebook Ads aren’t going to guarantee the sale.
I highly recommend you beta test first. This will ensure that your product is validated, refined and perfected BEFORE you spend valuable dollars on advertising.
Make sure people want to buy what you’re selling. Make sure the positioning of your product is just right. Get some solid testimonials and endorsements. Then, when you do spend your hard earned cash – you’ll see REAL results!
You haven’t set up your sales funnel
Facebook ads are good, but they aren’t magic.
They won’t just bring you sales if you don’t have everything set up.
Along with needing to have something to sell your customers, you’ll also need a wealth of free content like blogs, videos or podcasts and a freebie to give to potential customers in exchange for their email address. I also recommend you have emails that go out to nurture the relationship with your customers over the first few weeks they have signed.
You don’t have time to manage your ads
If you think you can fire up a campaign and leave it to run, you aren’t saving time. Because time is money and your money is going buh-bye.
The golden rule of Facebook Ads is that they are NOT set it and forget it.
Your Facebook Ad campaigns require nurturing and attention. You need to ensure you are reaching the right people with the right message. And if not, you need to pivot and change up your strategy.
Unless you can give your time or hire someone to manage it well – don’t invest in FB ads just yet.
Your target audience is not on Facebook
Even though Facebook has 1.79 billion monthly active users (Statistica), there still are a select number of people who do not use Facebook.
Yes, I said it. Some people aren’t on Facebook.
And sometimes, your target audience may be on Facebook, but they may be more resistant and less receptive to online advertising. If that is the case, you don’t have to follow the trend. Spend your advertising dollar where you are most likely to reach your audience – even if that means offline.
